Ayrton Group are seeking a Technical Safety Lead to join our client, a large utilities organisation, on an ongoing project. Our client has multiple office locations nationwide so it would be working from the office closest to you. This role offers hybrid working.

This is a 3 month contract role with the potential for long term.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company requirements.
• Provide professional health and safety advice to management and operational teams.
• Lead risk assessment processes across water treatment plants, pumping stations, networks, construction sites, and field operations.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety reviews.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Monitor and report safety performance metrics, trends, and KPIs.
• Manage permit-to-work systems and high-risk work activities.
• Support safe systems of work for confined space entry, excavation, lifting operations, electrical work, chemical handling, and contractor activities.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response planning.
• Ensure appropriate occupational health and wellbeing programs are in place.
• Lead contractor safety management processes, including prequalification, monitoring, and performance reviews.
• Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
• Facilitate safety committees and employee engagement initiatives.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders as required.
• Support environmental and quality management objectives where integrated management systems are in place.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a similar position.
• Previous experience in lab environments would be beneficial.
• Varied experience in other sectors such as Pharmaceuticals would be beneficial.
• Previous experience in report writing and collation of information for KPI’s, safety metrics, presentations etc. required.
• Strong ability to prioritise tasks, work with schedules, and manage resources while remaining focused on main goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
• Full driver’s license and vehicle.
