HSEQ Officer – Carlow

Ayrton Group are seeking a HSEQ Officer to join our client, a large Engineering group, at their facility in the Carlow region. The HSEQ Officer will primarily operate in a compliance function.

This is a 12 month contract role commencing as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day Health & Safety, Environmental, & Quality functions.
  • Provide professional support & advice to the Senior Management Team (Design & Manufacture) on Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality matters.
  • Assist client employees & contractors in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards, & contractual agreements.
  • Responsible for developing, promoting & monitoring the HSEQ culture across all activities.
  • Responsible for the permitting of works within the facility, ensuring that all EHS & Quality expectations are considered and complied with.
  • Responsible for & ensuring that all products are designed and manufactured in accordance with company Quality systems, Safety standards, & Customer requirements.
  • Assist with quality control function including oversight of incoming inspections, process controls, and audits.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is prepared & updated in line with all quality & regulatory guidelines & promote full compliance.
  • Lead quality initiatives e.g. providing technical support and process improvements programs.
  • Responsible for the implementation of all applicable ISO standards.
  • Ensure that communications between the Group EHS & Group Quality departments is 100% clear & detailed to the highest level for implementation by the team.
  • Analyse problems & follow through with solutions.
  • Deal with customer complaints, ensuring that all relevant documents & traceability are in place.
  • Prepare and review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Identify and coordinate construction EHS training to meet regulatory requirements and improve construction EHS awareness & performance across the company.
  • Ensuring adherence to ISO14001/1SO45001/ISO9001 standards.
  • Drive the implementation of programs and initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.
  • Reports to the Group EHS Manager/ Group Quality Manager and General Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum NEBOSH Diploma in Safety and/or Quality Systems.
  • Experience in EHS Management Systems in a busy manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems in a busy manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Technical capability.
  • Team player with ability to work on own initiative.
  • Detail orientated with ability to operate to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment.
