The Junior Health & Safety Advisor supports the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across engineering, installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities within a drinks manufacturing facility. The role assists in ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant health and safety legislation while promoting a positive safety culture among employees, contractors, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the company’s Health & Safety Management System and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures, and client requirements.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits, identifying hazards and monitoring the completion of corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Promote safe working practices by delivering site inductions, toolbox talks, and engaging with employees and contractors.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring findings and corrective actions are recorded.
  • Monitor contractor activities and Permit to Work systems to ensure engineering work is carried out safely.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, including inspection records, training records, permits, and audit reports.
  • Promote good housekeeping, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Provide day-to-day health and safety support to mechanical and process engineering teams during installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
  • Carry out any other health and safety duties appropriate to the role as required.

Essential Requirements

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a health and safety role (or relevant placement/internship).
  • Basic understanding of health and safety legislation.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
