Course Overview

Course Content . Legal & Occupational Responsibilities. Liaison with others. Risk Assessment. Planning the work. Safe Systems of Work. Video Presentation. Introduction to location & detection equipment ? functional checks. Practical on-site location of underground services (by each delegate). Practical techniques for locating various services, pipes, cables, street lighting, concrete reinforcing bars and locating tee connections.. Further practical exercise incorporating all associated equipment. CAT maintenance & storage of equipment. Safe digging techniques. Ten Golden rules of locating.. Certification: On successful completion a CSCS card and certificate will be issued by SOLAS. Certificates are valid for a period of five years.

Who is this course for
Anyone whose work activities include excavations.
Course Aim
To provide the participants with the required knowledge and skills to carry out the location and avoidance of underground services when involved with excavation works.
Course Objectives
Participants will be able to: . State the required legislation applicable to the location of underground services.. Identify the hazards associated with underground services.. Use the relevant information, cable location devices and carry out or supervise the carrying out of safe excavation.. State precautions to be taken for the protection of site personnel and members of the public.
Course Requirements
All trainees have to have a valid Irish Safe Pass.. All trainees have to have an Irish or UK PPS number.. All trainees have to be able to read, write and understand English on their own.. If not then a SOLAS/FAS approved interpreter needs to be provided on-site for all training. Interpreter needs to be approved in advance of the course.. All SOLAS Candidate Packs need to be completed and returned to us in advance of a booking being confirmed, where applicable. You cannot resit this course if you have previously held a CSCS card in LUGS NOTE: SOLAS rules require 7 full days notice of our intention to run a course
